Job description

Back Office Employee

Leeuwarden | Full-time | ME-AT the alternative

Making an impact together, built on trust. That’s what working at ME-AT the alternative is all about.

When orders, information or administrative processes are not accurate, the impact on operations is immediate. That is why your work as a Back Office Employee matters. From our Leeuwarden location, you ensure that orders are processed accurately, colleagues have access to the right information, and production, labelling and dispatch can rely on you.

Your role is about more than simply carrying out tasks. Do you see an opportunity to make a process smarter or improve the way our ERP system supports the business? You will be trusted to identify improvements, take the initiative and help turn them into reality. This means you can directly see the impact of your work: greater clarity, better collaboration and an operation that continues to run smoothly.

At ME-AT the alternative, we develop innovative food concepts focused on the protein transition, bringing together taste, quality and sustainability. Your contribution may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is visible every day in how effectively we work together.

What will you do?

You are responsible for providing reliable administrative support for our daily operations. You maintain oversight, work accurately and communicate frequently with colleagues on and around the production floor.

  • You process orders accurately and on time.

  • You are the first point of contact for colleagues in production, labelling and dispatch.

  • You ensure that colleagues and external partners have access to accurate and up-to-date information.

  • You identify opportunities to improve the ERP system or working processes and take the initiative to implement improvements.

  • You help ensure that improvements to systems and working methods are successfully put into practice.

  • When colleagues are absent, you provide support with ordering raw materials and master data-related activities.

You are therefore responsible for maintaining accuracy in daily operations while also having the freedom to look beyond today’s tasks. It is precisely this combination that makes this back office role so interesting.

What do you bring?

You enjoy structure and value accurate information. At the same time, you enjoy working with others: colleagues know they can rely on you, and you actively reach out to them when you need information to move forward. When you see a practical opportunity for improvement, you are comfortable speaking up.

  • MBO+/HBO level of working and thinking, or equivalent.

  • Relevant administrative experience, preferably within a logistics or production environment.

  • A structured way of working and strong attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills and a service-oriented approach.

  • The ability to switch easily between different tasks and priorities.

  • Experience with administrative systems and Microsoft Office.

  • A strong sense of responsibility and a practical, solution-oriented mindset.

What do we offer you?

At ME-AT the alternative, you are trusted to work independently and take responsibility for what happens within your area of work. You will be part of an engaged team, working closely with our operations, and you will have the opportunity not only to identify improvements but also to help drive them forward. This allows you to develop yourself while making an immediate contribution to better processes.

  • A one-year contract with the intention of converting it into a permanent position.

  • Attractive employment conditions in line with your experience.

  • 8% holiday allowance and a 2% year-end bonus.

  • 24 days of annual leave.

  • The opportunity to work with an enthusiastic and committed team.

  • Plenty of scope for your own initiative and for improving ERP systems and working processes.

Working at Vion

ME-AT the alternative is a subsidiary of Vion Food Group. This means that in Leeuwarden, you contribute to ME-AT’s own ambitions while also being part of a larger food organisation.

In your day-to-day work, you will mainly experience the short lines of communication and strong collaboration between colleagues. Back office, production, labelling and dispatch depend on one another to keep processes running smoothly. We support each other, share information and take responsibility whenever needed.

Trust means having the freedom to organise your work effectively and raise opportunities for improvement. Impact means being able to see the difference your contribution makes: an accurately processed order, reliable information or a smarter process immediately helps your colleagues move forward. And by working together, we continue to learn and improve the way we work.

That reflects what we stand for as an employer: making an impact together, built on trust.
